Properties
Pressboard is a special type of durable cardboard. It is created by wet felting plant fibers, followed by layering, pressing, and smoothing. It is made of noble fibrous raw materials, hard pulp, and waste paper.
It has the following properties:
dielectric resistance and resistance to electric breakdown - electrotechnical pressboard
resistance to short-term thermal loads up to 350°C
high mechanical resistance to abrasion and bending
flexible and very smooth surface
low density - 1.10 - 1.25 g / cm3
ease of cutting, pressing, crushing, and partially forming
The most common color of pressboard is beige, in sheets of various thicknesses and sizes.
Application
Pressboard is most often used as an insulator in low voltage motors, transformers and various types of electrical apparatus. In addition, it has such applications as:
