Spiral gasket SPW 123

The SPW 123 spiral gasket consists of an outer ring, a sealing part, and an inner ring. The outer and inner rings can be made of standard steel materials.

The spiral can be made with fillings such as graphite, PTFE, ceramics, and mica.

Advantages of using the outer ring:

  • ensures optimal placement of the gasket between the screws;
  • prevents overloading and over-compression of the sealing element;
  • prevents radial squeezing of a filling as soft as PTFE.

Advantages of using an inner ring:

  • prevents the radial squeezing of the filling material (PTFE);
  • protects the sealing element against tearing;
  • reduces turbulence - minimizing flow resistance and crevice corrosion;
  • acts as a heat shield when the gasket is exposed to high temperatures.

Inner and outer rings are recommended especially on those gaskets that exceed the 600LBS class, and even more for operation at high temperatures and pressures, optimizing the reliability of the sealing element.
