Fabric expansion joints

Fabric expansion joints for pipelines and flue gas ducts in industrial installations - various types of technical fabrics.

Fabric expansion joints

Fabric expansion joints are manufactured of different kinds of fabrics, layers' quantity depends on working parameters. Glass fabrics with no coating, aluminized glass fabrics, silicone coated glass fabrics, ceramic, aramid, or silica fabrics are most often used. If expansion joint works in a chemically aggressive environment, then a popular solution of additional PTFE foil application is used, which significantly increases the product's life. To increase its mechanical strength a wire net is applied (of chromium-nickel or another kind of steel, depending on a requirement).

How to order a fabric expansion joint?

In order to prepare an offer, we will need data such as:

  • types of medium transferred in the installation

  • operating temperature of the installation

  • pressure
  • possible axial shifts

  • dimensions or technical drawing

Construction of an expansion joint

Expansion joint consists of:

  • steel structure: flanges, counter flanges, guide plates

  • fabric part: compensation sleeve and thermal insulation pillow. Typically, these elements occur in multiple layers. In such systems, individual fabrics have separate tasks - as load-bearing, stabilizing, insulating, and sealing layers. Single-layer systems are used in applications requiring high chemical resistance.
